Show Summary

Big Brother Australia is a reality television show based on the format created by John de Mol. It first aired in 2001 on Channel 10, drawing over 9,000 applicants for its inaugural season. Housemates are isolated in a house at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, monitored by cameras and microphones 24 hours a day where they compete for cash prizes and public votes for eviction. The original run lasted eight seasons plus one celebrity edition before being cancelled in 2008 amid declining ratings and controversy.

The franchise was revived on the Channel 7 in 2020 and lasted 5 seasons (including a VIP special).

In late 2024, Channel 10 took over the reins and announced a return to its original format—live evictions, public voting, 24-hour streaming, and the Dreamworld location.
