Show Summary

Australian Survivor is an reality competition franchise based on the international Survivor format, with two distinct network runs. The original version aired on Channel 9 in 2002, hosted by Lincoln Howes. Filmed on the Eyre Peninsula, this single season featured 16 castaways divided into 2 tribes. the winner took home A$500,000. Unique rules included self-voting and a verbal final elimination.

The modern revival began in 2016 on Channel 10, hosted initially by Jonathan LaPaglia and from 2025 by David Genat. This version typically features 24 castaways competing for around 50 days for the same grand prize. The show is known for its extended duration, complex twists, and high production value. Notable seasons include Champions v Contenders (2018–2019), All Stars (2020), Blood v Water (2022), and the shortened crossover Australia v The World (2025). 

The show has features strategic social gameplay, physical endurance, and jury persuasion, with contestants often facing unique challenges like Redemption Beach or Purgatory to return to the game.
